Chain wax for moist and wet conditions
Chain Wax wet is a high-quality chain wax for efficient chain care in everyday riding and sporty use. According to the manufacturer, it was developed and tested with professional road racing teams. It is suitable for all common drivetrains, from road and gravel to MTB, as well as e-bike, touring and trekking.
Clean components and long mileage
The main focus is riding in moisture and wet weather. Chain Wax wet is designed to keep the chain and drivetrain as clean as possible, even in demanding and dirty conditions, and to protect the chain, cassette and chainrings from heavy contamination. According to the manufacturer, up to 800 km per wax treatment is possible, depending on use and conditions.
Processing and temperature ranges
A melting range of 85 to 95 °C and a cooling temperature of 66 to 68 °C are specified for processing. This allows controlled processing and even hardening of the wax.

Waxing a Bicycle Chain with Chain wax wet & Chain wax dry - Instructions in 7 Steps
Waxing a bicycle chain ensures a clean, long-lasting, and especially quiet drivetrain—this guide shows the most important steps in a concise and easy-to-understand way.
- Open a used chain with master link pliers or use a chain tool
- Alternatively: open the master link without special tools
- Important: 12-speed master links are usually for single use
- When closing it again, use a new master link if no opening tool was used.
- Roughly pre-clean dirty chains before degreasing
- Put the chain in a mason jar or a freezer bag
- Completely cover the chain with degreaser
Cleaning
- Let it soak for 20 minutes
- Then shake vigorously for about 2 minutes (to clean the rollers)
- Repeat the process at least once
- The liquid should be relatively clear at the end

Rinsing
- Rinse with alcohol
- Final rinse with isopropanol or Cleaner 500 ml
- Let the alcohol evaporate completely

Clean the drivetrain
- The cassette can remain installed
- Thoroughly brush with drivetrain cleaner
- Also clean the derailleur pulleys and the chainring
- Hang the chain on a wire
- Let it air out completely
- Ideally let it dry for several hours
- Put the wax into a suitable pot
- Ideal: slow cooker with temperature monitoring
- Alternative: regular pot with a meat thermometer
Temperature
- 85–100 °C depending on the wax specifications (see the Chain Wax label)
Application
- Thread the chain onto a wire (including the master link)
- Fully submerge the chain in the liquid wax
- Move it around in the wax bath (for better penetration)
- Leave it in the wax bath for 15–20 minutes
Cooling phase in the wax
- Reduce the temperature and hold for about 10 minutes
- Wait until a thin skin forms on the wax
- Carefully remove the chain from the pot
- Hang it over the wax bath to drip off
- Excess wax can be reused
- Note: the chain should only drip a little—otherwise repeat the process
- Let the chain cool for at least 30 minutes
- Loosen up each individual link
- Reinstall the chain on the bike
- Use a new master link
- Observe the direction of travel
- Bed it in for about 40 kilometers
- For cleaning, water is usually sufficient
- After rides in wet conditions, wipe dry with a clean cloth
- One treatment lasts about 800–1200 kilometers
- Re-wax sooner depending on intensity of use
